Chapter 2 Her Revenge :Sleep with His Best Friend

At the freshman welcome ball of A University’s Biology Department, I’d fallen head over heels for Liang Feifan at first sight.

The top student confessing to the campus heartthrob—it had been the talk of the school forums for days on end.

Back then, Liang Feifan had told me he had nothing to give me yet, but he’d promise me the world someday.

We dated, graduated, got jobs, and tied the knot—all in one seamless flow.

After marriage, Liang Feifan’s pharmaceutical company had indeed skyrocketed to success.

I’d stayed on at the university as a lecturer, throwing myself into research, projects, papers, and promotions...

On track to become the youngest professor in A University’s history.

I’d clawed my way up the academic ladder,

All just to have more in common with Liang Feifan.

But all I’d gotten in return was proof of his infidelity.

It happened when he’d asked me to check a report on a newly developed drug on his phone.

A text had popped up from an unknown number: "Are you coming over for dinner tonight?"

A woman’s intuition had urged me to reply: "Not sure yet. Send me the address first."

When the private investigator had handed me the photos of Liang Feifan and Su Li together,

My heart had felt like it was being crushed into a million pieces.

Liang Feifan had been rear-ended by Su Li while waiting at a red light.

She’d been wearing a white blouse and a black pencil skirt, her delicate face twisted into a look of anxious apology.

"If a beautiful lady like you would honor me with a meal, I’ll take care of the car repairs myself," he’d said.

Tired of eating out, Liang Feifan had been going to Su Li’s place for meals ever since.

He’d nap on her couch while she bustled around in the kitchen, then she’d give him a gentle head massage after dinner.

It was the kind of soft, nurturing care I’d never had the time to give him, too busy with my academic work.

I’d sent those photos straight to Su Li’s parents back in her hometown and even bought them plane tickets to come here.

Soon enough, Su Li had vanished from the city without a trace.

Unable to find Su Li, Liang Feifan had stormed home and gotten into a huge fight with me.

He’d said that only with Su Li had he ever felt the tenderness a husband deserved from his wife.

Other than loving him, I’d had no idea what else to do.

I’d handed over all my ongoing research projects and given up on competing for the biology professorship.

After finishing my classes each day, I’d rush home to experiment with new recipes, all just to make Liang Feifan want to come home more often.

I’d loved him so much that I’d lost myself completely. He’d forgotten just how brilliant I could be.

What more did he want from me to win him back?
