Chapter 1 Reborn to Save My Brother

I was waiting outside the prison for my brother when I received the news of his death.

Five years ago, he was imprisoned on charges of intentional assault.

If I hadn't met that man back then, my brother would have become the finest doctor.

Now that everything has returned to the beginning, this time I want to change our fated destiny.

...

My brother was eight years older than me.

When our parents died in a car accident, he had just entered junior high school.

At thirteen, he took on the responsibilities of a parent far too early.

While other kids his age were acting coquettishly around their parents, he was already learning to braid my hair clumsily, taking care of his little tagalong for over a decade.

He wore cheap black clothes that cost only ten-odd yuan for years, just so they wouldn't get dirty easily from his part-time jobs.

It wasn't until he graduated from university and got a job that he finally started wearing the white coats he loved.

I never felt inferior for losing my parents, because I had the best brother in the world.

I once thought he would always be there for me.

Until the day after the college entrance exam—everything changed.

...

The party that night ended very late.

I walked alone through the alley, and from afar, I saw the warm light streaming from the windows of our house.

The noise from the KTV still seemed to linger in my ears. I rubbed my dizzy head and quickened my pace.

But just then, footsteps that didn't belong to me echoed through the quiet alley.

They grew closer and closer.

I was about to turn around when a pair of thick arms suddenly wrapped around me from behind.

The man was incredibly strong. He lifted me up effortlessly and dragged me roughly toward the depths of the alley.

As I watched the familiar window get farther and farther away, a deep sense of despair instantly engulfed me.

He threw me violently to the ground. My head hit the concrete with a dull thud, and his stinking mouth began to gnaw胡乱ly at my neck.

I summoned all my strength and slapped him hard across the face.

In the chaos, a familiar face made me freeze in shock.

The man assaulting me was actually the kind security guard uncle I had always admired!

Back in high school, he would quietly let me in when I was late, and he always waved goodbye to me with a big smile after school.

On graduation day, I even specially gave him a gift.

But at this moment, he was lying on top of me with a ferocious expression, violating me without mercy.

He moved his jaw, then slapped me back fiercely as revenge. Stars exploded in my vision.

"Bitch, stop pretending to be innocent!" he snarled. "You've been flirting with me with those smiles every day. Tonight, I'll give you a graduation gift you'll never forget."

I shook my head violently, crying uncontrollably, when suddenly a chill ran down my lower body.

In the next second, excruciating pain surged from between my legs.

I stared wide-eyed through my tears, my consciousness vanishing in an instant, leaving only that unspeakable agony.

When I woke up again, I was lying in my own bed, wearing soft pajamas.

My brother was leaning over the bed, clutching my hand tightly.

Hearing me stir, he猛地 lifted his head, his eyes bloodshot with exhaustion and grief.

Looking at his tormented face, the nightmare-like memories came flooding back.

My heart skipped a beat, and before I could speak, tears streamed down my cheeks.

My brother pulled me into his arms, comforting me in a low voice like he used to when I was little. "It's okay, Wanwan. It's okay. Brother's here."

By the end, his voice was so choked up he could barely speak.

After a long time, I stared blankly at the ceiling and said, "Brother, I don't want to go to school anymore..."

"Okay," he replied.

He didn't ask any questions.

Just like always, he heated up some milk for me and sat quietly by my side.

"Wanwan, eat well, sleep well. You have so much time ahead of you. Everything will pass."

Those were the last words my brother ever said to me.
