A familiar face came into view—he was wearing a simple white shirt.
His raised hand froze mid-air as I threw myself into his arms, crying uncontrollably.
"Wanwan, you..." He looked at me in confusion.
My voice was choked with joy. "Brother, I missed you so much."
He suddenly laughed, patting my head affectionately.
"You're such a big girl, still acting so clingy. Hurry up and get ready for breakfast. Didn't you say there's a party today?"
I froze for a moment, then looked around belatedly.
The familiar bed sheets, the familiar decorations, the big teddy bear still sitting in the corner.
An incredible thought popped into my mind. I rushed to the living room.
A documentary was playing on TV, and the calendar on the table clearly read: "June 10, 2019."
I stood there dumbfounded, overwhelmed by sudden joy that left me motionless.
"What's wrong? Did you have a nightmare?"
My brother walked over with breakfast.
"N-no..." I blinked, slowly walking toward the table.
On the table was my favorite pumpkin porridge. Before I knew it, tears were streaming down my face.
Only I knew how much I had missed this bowl of porridge.
"I just don't get how you make it so well. I could never replicate it," I muttered, trying to hold back my sobs.
He laughed. "Silly girl, there's no need to cry over this. I'll teach you..."
"No!" I interrupted him quickly. "Anyway, you'll always be here when I want some. I don't need to learn."
A gentle flick hit my forehead.
"You're being ridiculous."
Looking at him, a thought suddenly occurred to me.
God had given me a second chance—could I change something this time?
I quietly wiped my tears, a plan forming in my heart.
"Brother, promise me you won't come looking for me. I'll come home as soon as the party ends."
I urged him anxiously before leaving.
"Alright, you've said this a hundred times. I won't come looking for you," he replied helplessly, nodding his head. The next moment, he tried to push me out the door without mercy.
I struggled fiercely, rushing forward to hug him tightly.
My brother's body stiffened, as if he hadn't expected it.
After a moment, he raised his hand and patted my head. "You're such a big girl, still so attached to me?"
I mumbled softly. "Brother, wait for me to come back so you can celebrate with me."
"Okay, I'll wait for you!"
After lingering for a long time, I finally left under my brother's urging.
At the school gate, a deep voice called out: "Student Ye Wan, congratulations on graduating!"
I turned around, and my body began to tremble uncontrollably. I gripped the item in my bag tightly.
It was the gift my brother had helped me prepare. I didn't take it out; I just stared at him fiercely.
